From the WP article I gather the following information.
1. Woodward is Washington Post Assistant Managing Editor.
2. Woodward was told "casually" that Plame was CIA in June 2003.
3. Woodward did not believe this CIA-Plame information was classified or sensitive, and was therefore publishable.
4. He has only recently been released from confidentiality agreements by his sources.
5. The only WP reporter Woodward claims to have related this information to CANNOT recall being told so. We therefore have no way of verifying when Woodward was told about Plame.
So what I would ask is
Q1. Why has Woodward only now come forward with this info that destabilises the investigation, and why now has he been released from his confidentiality agreements and only as so far as to disclose that he was told of Plame's CIA link and nothing more? Will Woodward now be asked in court to reveal his sources and banged up for refusing to identify his sources? Or has he been given immunity from prosecution from this?
Q2. Why did Woodward not come forward, as soon as the Fitzgerald investigation began, to offer his services and information?
Q3. Why did Woodward not post the information about Plame if he "did not believe the information to be classified or sensitive"?
I believe there are more questions to ask about Woodward and his sources than Fitzgerald.
I shall have to analyze the Woodward statement, but at the moment I am thinking one of two things is going down here:
1. Fitz is honest and Woodward is playing some NWO game to derail an honest investigation, or
2. BOTH Fitz and Woodward are playing a crooked game, diverting attention from the real crime (the lies that took us to war) and/or wasting time on an investigation that was doomed from the start. I base this on both Woodward's bringing down of Nixon and Fitzgerald's coverup.
I'll get back to you on this after studying Woodward's statement.
