You appear to have posted the image that gives the APPEARANCE that an object is obscured by a cloud, thus implying that the object is NOT a lens flare. The image you have posted is one from 1634. If readers care to go to the website referred to below you can find the sequence of images at one minute intervals. http://www.katkam.ca/pix/20051101/20051101163500.jpg shows the "object" as egg-shaped. http://www.katkam.ca/pix/20051101/20051101163600.jpg shows the "object" as sherical and transparent. http://www.katkam.ca/pix/20051101/20051101163700.jpg shows the "object" as spherical and transparent and just about visible. http://www.katkam.ca/pix/20051101/20051101163800.jpg shows the "object" as egg-shaped. http://www.katkam.ca/pix/20051101/20051101163900.jpg shows the "object" as transparent and nearly evaporated. http://www.katkam.ca/pix/20051101/20051101164000.jpg shows the "object" as just about evaporated. http://www.katkam.ca/pix/20051101/20051101164100.jpg does not show the "object". It is an ex-object, it has ceased to be. But my favourite is the image taken one minute BEFORE the image you have posted was taken. The image below is from 1633, available at http://www.katkam.ca/pix/20051101/20051101163300.jpg What do readers think the "object" is now? Is it a lens flare, and that Esc has selected an image from a sequence of images that APPEARS to show an "object" obscured by clouds just at that moment? On closer scrutiny the "object" is NOT obscured by clouds at 1634.
