My name is Gunther Russbacher, I am a Captain in the United States Navy; my service number is 448401417. I have been on assignment with the Office of Naval Intelligence to the Central Intelligence AGENCY.
On a Friday afternoon, approximately October 18, 1980, I was a pilot on flights from the United States to Paris and back, that included as a passenger George Bush.
The flight from the United States commenced at Washington National Airport, to Andrews Air Force Base, and then to Paris, France. On board this flight were George Bush, candidate for the Vice President of the United States and now the President; William Casey, head of the election campaign and later head of the Central Intelligence Agency; Donald Gregg; and others.
After several hours in Paris, I was the pilot on an SR71 aircraft, in which George Bush was a passenger. The flight went from Paris to McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey, and we landed at McGuire at approximately 2 a.m. in the morning. The flight was nonstop from Paris to McGuire, by refueling from a military refueling aircraft. The refueling occurred approximately 1800 nautical miles from Paris, over the North Atlantic. I am aware that George Bush denied that he was in Paris at these times.
