Reader WayneB makes the point that all the fur-and-feathers prior to a controversial Legislative vote may not mean a thing - in which case, Bush's apparently "giving the finger" (as mentioned in the note at the top of this thread) may not mean anything, either. :)
On the other hand, as some of us are wondering, it may have been critically important to get CAFTA passed (despite the abhorrent Codex bit added into it) for reasons we haven't spotted, yet. Bush's late closed-door 'lobbying' of Republicans on the Hill was an odd thing; one has to wonder what he was saying behind those closed doors.
