I would like to respond to your articles about a section of the world military branching out into space.
During the early 80's I was attending a BBQ with friends one evening when I struck up an interesting conversation with a man who told me he was an electrical contractor.
I had not him known previous to our meeting at the BBQ, but after he overheard of my intrest in covert Government activities as I spoke to another person, he came over to me and we struck up a conversation. Plied with a few drinks, he claimed to have been given a recent lucrative contract to do some electrical work at the nearby tracking station outside Canberra called Tidbinbilla. He told me that he believed it was his security clearance, necessary for him to work at Parliament House in Canberra, as to why he was chosen for this job at Tidbinbilla.
He went on to tell me of what he saw whilst at this facility.
He said that he was led to the particular electrical job in the section of Tidbinbilla which was well away from the public areas. He was led down a long corridor which had many photographs lining the walls. As he walked, he noticed that all of the electrical fittings were American, right down to the plug sockets.
While walking with his American escort he told me that he viewed each photograph in turn, and noticed that they displayed a progression of space exploration from the early days prior to the Gemimi Series, to the Apollo series and the Moon walks, onwards to the current Shuttle expeditions into space.
His demeanor bagan to change at this point, and he looked visibly shaken as he related the rest of his tale to me. He told me that this was not the end of the photographic display, but only the bit he could recognise from media reports. He then began to see photographs of huge, black, block-like spaceships, looking like huge office blocks in the sky, tilted on their side.
The thing that shook him up the most was the immense size of these ships compared to the dwarfed Space Shuttle moored along-side.
I have never seen a person so shaken as this man at this moment. He just kept telling me:
"They're up there", and "They are huge" and also " they are ours".
I have no reason not to disbelieve him or his story.
