Dear Friends, Patriots and long-suffering sovereign Citizens of these States united:
Please note that the authors of a new book on the history of the Bonus marchers and the Bonus Army of 1932 asserts that both white veterans and black or Negro veterans of The Great War worked together and marched together in the "Bonus march." This book was not available to me while I was preparing the text of THE ROUT OF THE BONUS ARMY, and I apologize for the oversight. It is clear from the pictures, however, that most of the marchers were white veterans from around the country.
First, the excellent new book on the subject, as mentioned, has just recently been published:
The Bonus Army
An American Epic
Paul Dickson and Thomas B. Allen
