I am not sure which date to go by for Russia, so I go exceptionally with the current leader's chart alone because it is very interesting.
Vladimir Putin, October 7th, 1952 - Quadruple Libra with Scorpio rising and Mars in Sagittarius being visited next year by Pluto, which will prove either extremely fortifying or totally devastating, difficult to say which. Since Jupiter will at that time be well into Putin's 1st house in Scorpio, I tend to think he will present himself in a resourceful way.
Now barely 53 years old, in his 2nd term, he is a young player on this world chess board, Putin is the rising star in some way, and he will have his hands full re-organizing the big shop he took over.
Four planets in Libra in the 12th (Pisces) house at birth, Scorpio rising - which translates into a defensive man used to working from the back ground while cementing alliances all over the place.
This is the chart of a resilient man who will see planet Jupiter transiting his Libra birth positions during 2005. He will rise to unprecendented and longer lasting power by 2006 but I don't know how yet. His martial arts trained natal Mars in Sagittarius will be visited by Jupiter and Pluto at the end of 2007, by which time it is all or nothing for Putin. Brilliant man (Jupiter and moon in Gemini, multi-lingual) of iron self-willed discipline (Scorpio rising), he will be able to turn the situation of his country around within 3-4 years if he makes judicious alliances. He is not supposed to be elected for a 3rd term, yet I feel he will install himself for quite a while into the earth changes. He might in fact become an integrator and peace maker of sorts, despite what we hear about him. It is obvious to some extent that the MSM (mainstream media) are trying to belittle his efforts in making his country prosperous and safe.
His birth planet Pluto in Leo - all powerful and final dispositor - (chart ruler of Scorpio rising) sits on his North Node of destiny in the tenth house of status, military, government and power. You are looking actually at a benign yet smart Tsar. He will not be impressed with western tirades of democracy, as he keeps pointing out lately in interviews and speeches, instead he will work on creating some form of peace and prosperity in his realm by joining useful alliances in the Far East and in Europe if he must. (You have to understand his problem from his point of view, he has to motivate a populace that is used to take its frustrations out on Vodka, and he suggests instead go split some wood or run around the block 200 times...)
Also notice how his Libra planets correspond to Bush's Libra positions... yet how differetly the activate due to Putin's adventurous Sag Mars (martial arts pro)... and how Putin's Saturn can be weighing in on Bush's Moon-Jupiter in Libra which reminds me of their joint televised appearance in Camp David at the end of 2003, when it was evident that Putin - in elegant black - plays in an other league than Bush who scrambles for words on TelePromTer.
Putin surprises at each turn with a unique brand of self-empowerment and a few well-placed words, a sign of any shamanic Scorpio rising. His other memorable grand and late appearance was with Paul McCartney (the fake?) in Red Square, and then later with Tony Blair - when he asked him a simple query: "Where are your weapons of mass destruction?"
Putin has a zinging sense of fun. Don't be fooled, he was trained by the best & worst and he worked for them for a long time... make no mistake he is not an idiot, as he watches probably very carefully what goes on. Last remark: His Mercury-Neptune 22-24 Libra conjunction in 12th very close to the 3 degree Scorpio rising is indicative of a very psychic but maybe also very influenceable man, someone anyway who might at times be misunderstood or who might have difficulty making decisions. I find this signature often in men and women who are kind of like wizzards of the curtain, and who have a great way with words.
