North Korea’s independence date - after three years of Soviet occupation - is September 10th, 1948, in PyongYang, time adjusted as shown. Sun in Virgo on the panarabic point of Mars (See Mecca chart!!!) and the North Node on Taurus rising, the ultimate fortress of a nation. Jupiter-Moon in Sag conjunction deep inside the hidden 8th house, keeping the faith in its secretive ancient lands... visited there by PLUTO now.
This is what I would call a mercurial Virgo chart in square to fanatic Sagittarius Jupiter and Moon shows an adventurous yet frugal nation of which we really know very little. The chart has an uneasy Venus-Mars square showing tension from the get go. Venus in Leo of course loves pride and power display. This is the nation that for the first time as an entity went on record to call Cheney a mentally deranged person. Well yes it would take one to know one. The chart of Nok North Korea suggests an extremely volatile, unpredictable, and a restless community, and as we know, it is essentially a warrior nation, in my opinion it is China's ramrod experimentation playground.
North Korea is known for its outlandish claims without any validity, and other than that we know very little of this secretive country, apart from the rumors that the place is armed to its teeth. The chart clearly proves the economically afflicted and highly narrow minded, or outrageous and self righteous dogma that rules this dark realm of the earth. Yet, master Saturn in Leo is in benefical aspect to Jupiter at inception, and this will prove always to be an oddly stabilising factor, and also nuclear Pluto in trine to Sag Jupiter at birth only will enhance this driven 'faith' in its dogma, and it explains the North Korean cocky confidence.
The critical feature of September 10, 1948 is a powerful Mars in Scorpio - resilient, vindictive, determined, and yes nuclear - opposing the Taurus Node and hence of Karmic importance, since a Mars-SouthNode conjunction in Scorpio is always indicative of a deep hurt from a past life. This position will be gripped by the Big Grand Cross end of 2005. NK will be tempted to go ballistic by then maybe.
North Korea will never ever compromise, see the powerful Sagittarian positions, and it will if triggered resort to aggression as self defense. Mars in Scorpio, just as has the Bush Admin 2001 Supreme Court version. On the other hand the Virgo chart also shows a nation not really capable of acting out its grand plans.
If North Korea eventually develops further and evolves, together with a reliable ally - after 2007 when Aquarius Neptune dissolves its Leo-Venus-Saturn ambitions - to a more advanced level of existence, it could very well implement the potentially grounded stability it would actually be capable of. There is in the date of independence a highly artistic, creative and mentally stimulating brand of aspects, of which we have seen nothing at work in the outside world so far. Also there is a potential in this chart to reach out and make itself known from a positive angle.
North Korea's line of least resistance will always be to retreat into the nuclear caves in the mountains (the Scorpio South Node on Mars), which holds resentful grudges forever over being 'overlooked' like a foster child among the great players, and it will fight to the bitter end, no matter what the outcome in order to prove that is was 'right' - a terrible drawback of the otherwise optimistic Sag Moon-Jupiter. When Jupiter approaches Scorpio in 2006, September, we stand a chance to see North Korea really go off the deep end. Uranus and Neptune will challenge for many years a highly psychic perceptive and precognitive Neptune-Mercury conjunction in Libra which gives N. Korea this mystic, secretive allure, as well as the rather nervous and highstrung temper, always prone to extremely unbalanced and seemingly irrational judgements. I say 'seemingly' because there is transformative potential at work in North Korea, and because we must not judge this nation. The birth chart shows North Korea knows a lot more than other nations do, and so it cannot be convinced of other view points, which I can understand.
In diplomacy, you cannot approch North Korea like Cheney does, indirectly, and viy bullying it through China. North Korea wants to be taken seriously. This western arrogant approach will turn relationships in the Far East on its head, forcing through major upheavals with fatal consequences for the West. Resentments in this current round of issues are triggered yet again. Making North Korea part of the unreal ‘Axis of Evil’ was an extremely stupid move. Instead one should go talk to the Koreans and make them part of the community of our brothers and sisters, thus undermining its link to China, but the day will dawn when some younger leaders will read these lines and see what politological astrology could do to their inspired strategies.
Putin's diplomacy (see his chart above) and the relations between North Korea, Russia, and China, via astrology show that the surprises and ambiguity will make the little nation a bone of spiritual as well as military contention. If I were to advise Putin, I would send a lot of help to North Korea and make the country open its borders to the worlds....
because it is in the interest of the world that both North and South Korea and China forge a peaceful understanding for a better world, and it is not in the interest of the Western world to have a strategy of stupendous tension going on. Not AT ALL.
The next 2 years will see again heated exchanges, words spoken and written in haste, which will lead to misunderstandings later down the road when we want to make certain North Korea doesn't proceed to a 'test' of its capacities. Make no mistake, North Korea, if provoked, will go the final mile, as it has nothing to lose. Saturn in 2006 and 2007 in Leo will trigger things, when North Korea might starve to death, due to its pride, and it will end the relations altogether. Now, in 2004 Pluto is indicating an internal battle of wills, and an external standoff with China. This conflict will not go away until 2007 ends in a spectacular Pluto-Jupiter in Sagittarius conjunction, when North Korea might simply feel obliged to push 'NUKE'...
There is a huge amount of political and astrological pressure on North Korea until end of 2006. There is a need to transform the country, and to abolish certain structures. Sun in Virgo at birth seems incable of achieving this goal. There will be very erratic moves coming from the leadership, and then from the people, ill-thought through decisions, and resentful reactions to comments made in the outside world. Do not think North Korea is not watching and listening. They do know who is their enemy. The strategy of tensions will create a potentially sharp conflict on the 10th or 11th of September of 2004, when North Korea will celebrate its national birthday, courtesy of an enhancing Jupiter-Pluto square there is no telling which way this conflictual destiny might wind up.
The advice to all players is to bring North Korea into the play pen. Remember what I said about the Mercury-Neptune alignment for China also, this is a highly gifted little country, not to be underestimated. We will come to understand all this when Jupiter gets there by 2005 July. The nation of Kim will then seek to find spiritual and fair allies, and it is actually trying to reach out in very odd ways. I wish them luck, maybe someone will hear their cry for help... Time then for North Korea to retain some PR people and transform the message...
