ROCK-"CHURCHES" IN ETHIOPIA BUILT WITH A "REPLICATOR"? *PIC*
The earth-buildings of Lalibäla are among the most extraordinary architectural creations of human civilization - and as I wrote - they are even listed among the World heritage of the UN.
Each of the 12 buildings in the area is sculpted, both inside and out, directly from the living bedrock of the earth (similar to the Zagwe constructions...).
There are two basic types at Lalibäla: rock-hewn cave "churches" which are cut inward from more or less vertical cliff faces and rock-hewn monolithic buildings which imitate a built-up structure but are actually cut in one piece from the surrounding rock and are separated from it by a trench, encircling them. The probable method of construction was for craftsman to first sink some deep trenches directly into the stone, then to slowly chisel away excess stone to reveal exterior and interior spaces...
Although there might be a complete different method how these buildings were created:
Imagine a device - similar to a CAD/CAM-machine - transforming the 3D-blueprints from a - let's say "computer" - directly in the matter. Something similar you possibly saw in Star Trek described as a REPLICATOR...

Bath University has unveiled a machine that could manufacture household objects to order in the home of the future.
Dr Adrian Bowyer, of the University's Centre for Biomimetics, said that he has adapted a fast prototype generator used in the car industry to make simple household objects.
After picking them on a computer the device uses metal and plastic to make shapes from a few millimetres to 300 millimetres in length, width and height....
