100K FOR SECURITY: WHAT HAVE WE MISSED IN ALL THIS???
Quoting from the previous article, "FORMAL COMPLAINT FILED AGAINST JUDGE GREER IN SCHIAVO CASE".
"Terri’s estranged husband and guardian, Michael Schiavo, had petitioned Greer’s probate court in 1998 for permission to remove her feeding tube although at that time, a feeding tube was not considered to be “artificial life support.” In October, 1999, after the case had been underway for over a year, led by Sen. James King, the Florida Legislature changed Florida law to include assisted feeding to be artificial life support and Greer retroactively applied the law back to 1985 when Schiavo claimed that his wife had told him that she would not want to be kept alive by artificial means."
It is Constitutionally illegal to retroactively apply a law. A retroactive law would be an "ex post facto" law which in essence means "after the fact". Any first year law student would know that and it was even taught in High School when I was there.
Now to the last story, "(Thanks to PH for forwarding this piece of news)". Something about this case was worth spending over $100,000.00 for security including snipers on the roof, armed officers outside her room, as well as by her bed! Have we missed something in this ordeal?
How do you justify spending that much money on that level of security to kill a helpless lady?
What the heck was really going down in all this? Again, what have we missed?
