Rayelan,
Your input on this has to be correct. If you stand back and use logic, it is the only thing that makes any logical sense of the whole affair. Both sides of our one party system do seem to play off the state of Israel.
In the past many Repbublican Presidents have been very generous when it comes to appointing Jewish Americans to cabinet positions. A case that comes to mind is the almost hero worship status of Henry Kissinger under Nixon and Ford.
As of this writing, incomming President Bush has appointed no Jewish Americans to any prominent positions. One is left to wonder if this has any bearing on the voting fiasco in West Palm Beach, Florida and the subsequent aninimosity that followed. Is there a vendetta emerging? Or, is this a coincidence?
A factor that might well be worth considering would be the divergent interests involved between a Bush Presidency and a Gore Presidency. The Bush family is primarily interested in keeping the oil flowing, the leases intact and the prices high.
Those with extensive interests in the oil business will this hard to reconcile with Israeli territorial interests and their visions of national sovereignty and possible wishes of territorial expansion. The opposing factions have little in common. It is my guess, that a Bush Presidency will not wish to see Israel launch a war. This could lead a conflagration of the entire area.
If we look back on Desert Storm, George Bush allied with the moderate oil sheiks against Iraq. Iraq had seized Kuwait, where the Bush family owned some 50% of Pennzoil. They were joined by Britain who also had extensive holdings tied up in British Petroleum.
At present, we see the moderate Arab Kingdoms becomming less friendly since the current Mideast hostilities. In short, it looks bad for business. I think you will see George Bush attempt to act as a break on Israeli military aggression. Whether this can be successful is anybody's guess.
In light of all this one can see how American Jewish voters would be reluctant to vote for George Bush. In light of the election schemes, we are left to wonder if they not actually try to swing the election against Bush.
On the other side of the coin, when Bill Clinton came to office, he vowed to "turn the Whitehouse kitchen into a kosher kitchen." This is one political promise that was kept by a politician, with his cabinet appointees being hardly distinguishable from the Israeli Knesset.
This was extended and mirrored with the Gore candidacy. Lieberman is an Orthodox Jew and the Gore family has family ties with banking interests in Russia, as his daughter is married to the great grandson of Jacob Schiffman, one of the financiers of the Bolshevik Revolution. Oil is not one of their main priorities.
So it remains, that Bush has so far neglected to announced any Jewish Americans to major cabinet positions. It is not really that hard to figure it out. In the past, there has been a kind of live and let live approach to the two opposing factions. A kind of we are all Bilderberg, CRF, TRI-Lats kind of mentality, but this split may be deepening.
One factor, it may behoove us all to remember is this. There was speculation that if Iraq, had launched even a dirty nuke (one less powerful) but still non-conventional, into the oil fields, it could have ignited the underground oil fields and caused a blaze almost impossible to put-out. Oil field workers would have surely died of radiation poisoning while attempting it. Scientists speculated at that time, the resulting smoke and fire could have come close to giving us a nuclear winter. As it was, the resulting smoke from the war, sent petro-residue over Arab countries and China, poisoning some farm-land. I often wonder if China has ever forgotten this fact.
