It seems that we evolve to a certain level....one step at a time....where certain material loves just don't seem quite as important or necessary as before. It's not that we can't enjoy them still but these material joys no longer control us....because we have glimpsed more of the spiritual joys which are eternal and not dependant upon human circumstances."
