When he was told that the World Trade Towers had been hit he was also told to stay put while the area was swept. The area included a four block radius.
After it was deemed safe for the President to leave the area, he was driven to AF1. The rest of this story is good enough to be a spy thriller. When I have time, I will tell it. I just wish the White House would tell it first. I have NO idea why they keep allowing the left to beat them up with the seven minute goat story, when the truth makes George W. Bush look better than Harrison Ford looked in Air Force One!
