this is a response my sister sent to me, referring to Pravdaseeker's article. she is one of the current pioneers in this field.
Read what you want into this. Things like this take a LONG time. They've been trying to get pieces of it going since 1982 or so. The ITS system was setup for auto safety such as sensing cars in front of you and automatically slowing down or detecting that you veered out of your lane and correcting that error. Adding communications to the vehicle is another aspect but as of yet have not really been tied together successfully from the overall management perspective. The amount of data storage would be enormous, Like the guy said, you could easily find out where & when he traveled the last year. The extension of the vehicle isn't much different. The reality of what is hypothesized is slim but could happen. The build out of the infrastructure would be too expensive and that is the overall limiting factor. The speeding ticket thing is plausible but realistic; we are a country that likes to sue, so if you got 20 tickets in one day you can be that somebody would scream and sue. Enough said.
