According to Erol Torun of the Mars Imaging Team and Hyperdimensional Physicist, the five sided geometry is a significator of the zero point energy.
The only time they showed up in matter was when the two metals that were melted were hardened on a rapidly spinning disc. They then showed a five sided grain structure..which is not found in 3D nature..
