MORE THAN JUST HERONS HAVE HIT THE BRICKS AROUND HERE!!
Well, I don't know about the herons per se, but I'll go you one better!
This is the first year in memory that I was able to harvest my cherry crop with out spending more money on shotgun shells than the cherries were worth.
Not a Starling or blackbird to be seen!
Anyone who is familiar with cherry trees will know at once that that is highly irregular!
Those birds are usually lined up taking numbers for a chance to pick the trees clean. This year....NADA! zip!
Now, I'll tell you what! I have a lot of respect for those thievin' black hearted, feathered pirates! They are one smart bird!
I don't know where they all went to, but if they are "out'a here" at cherry harvest time, then maybe I'm thinking I should give some thought to following their lead!
As an aside, there has also been an amazing absence of fruit flies this year.
Lot's of other strange animal behavior around here recently, as well.
(not counting teen age kids, of course)
