Reading what D.G. wrote to you tallies with what I have noticed in general lunar movements during months and weeks mentioned in his post. .I had written to Cliff about this several weeks ago, I think. I live in Switzerland.
Because I've been on summer vacation for about a month and actually kept very late nights working several months before vacation began, I have been able to observe the moon for a period of time now from about midnight until about 5:00 a.m. when the sun rises, and, yes, somewhat further north.With this shift in where the sun seemed to have been rising the past few weeks, I also noticed something even more worrisome:
light came and the sun was already at a height in the sky which normally I would have thought would have been its position three or four hours after sunrise.This seemed to be happening in the last ten days or so. I'm not a terribly observant or detail-oriented person, but I sensed the difference with the sunrise in these last three or four weeks as well as
incredibly blinding white light from the sun so early before clouds and "trails" smeared the sky.
For several weeks in June, the moon seemed to be in its "right" place, but several nights ago, I noticed it south, southeast in a place I have never seen it in the twenty-some years I have lived here. The last two nights have been overcast, but tonight (July l), I saw it behind cloudcover to the right of the mountain I face. This is only the third time I
have ever seen it there---all three times have been since this past week-end, I think. I hesitate a little with days and weeks, but I remember the distinct impressions, perplexities, angles, and directions.
