Just got around to having a closer look at the Planet Kit. It's for the Windoze version of Bryce, so I can't remake the planet according to my wishes. Bummer, but probably good for the world as we know it.
Just so you know I'm not kidding about this planet kit, I'm pasting the ReadMe file and the Instruction file below.

You may use the textures FREE of charge. But if you use
these Textures for Commercial purposes, The License Fee
is $10.00 U.S. per Texture, per single use.
After all I spent many hours Creating these Textures.

Instructions
To use the Bryce 2 Textures ( Sorry Mac Users these are for the Windows
version of Bryce) I am hoping to put together a Mac Kit, But alas I donÆt
have a Mac to do it on.
1.Create a folder, name it whatever you like, then unzip this file into it.
2.Run Bryce 2
3. Just go to the Material Preset Menu & click on import, go to the directory
where you have unzipped this file, select one of the folders , you will
see a list of all the files in it, double click on any of the files to load it
into the Material Preset Box. Your ready to apply it to your object etc.
(you may have to scroll to the end of the preset box, that you loaded
the Texture into, to see it)
How to Use KPT 3 Texture Explorer Presets
1. Run whatever program that you use with KPT 3
2. select the Texture Explorer
3. click on the Minus sign at the bottom of the KPT screen
4. select Import, go to the Directory where you unzipped this file
& select the KPT 3 Preset Directory, you will get a list of files
double click on any of them, it now is in your preset menu!
