I was watching film of the coronation processional of Tsar Nicholas II from 1896 (A & E's Biography) when I noticed two guards just ahead of the Tsar. Each wore an 8 pointed SUNBURST on their chest. Also visible was a helmet topped by a rather large phoenix (symbol of resurrection cf. Lazarus connection in the last post).
Are the Romanov's related to the Austro-Hungarian royalty?? I know Alexandra (the Tsarina) was born in Germany - was her family related?
In the video, it was mentioned that there was a 'mystical connection' between the Tsar and his people and that Nicholas "saw himself as their protector and saviour." Interesting, in light of the nature of F2's care for and benevolent service toward the people, don't you think?
