...according to Ignatius from Antiochia "Christus in the mysterium of anthropogenesis is himself the star..."(Ambr. in Luc. II, 45). The 'Star of Bethlehem' was always regarded as an 8-Pointed star. In Greek writing the name of Christ sums up to 888. All baptismal fonts have 8 corners.

The '8' shows as well the connection to the VENUS, Ishtar (Esterházy!), and the HATHORS of ancient Egypt. As well in ancient Iran culture the 8-pointed star was used as a symbolism for God. The Uzbekistan emblem (since 1992) shows us at the top an 8-pointed star with moon and sun inside the blue field (http://www.christian-siemer.de/wappen/asien/usbekistan.htm). The God connection with the eight originates from Babylon, where the Gods did 'live' in the 8th floor of the Zikkurats. Eventually over Persia (Iran) the symbolism of the eight (hasht behesht = eight Paradises) came into the Islam, where eight Angels are believed to hold the throne of God (e.g. the Al Aqsa Mosque has an eight pointed ground plan).
The banner of the Esterházy family is to be seen here:

For me the symbol looks much as an Maltese Cross, although after watching Patriodlad´s link with the magnification the 'flamelike' alterations points towards a wickan/pagan connection.
I agree that Janet was likely not involved what symbolism was used on her (or been disinformed) - would be interesting WHO got up with this 'marketing idea' and proposed it to her.
Anyway, interesting thread.
