I don't have to give a link to post these things most of you already know. Our food supply is tainted! Most know our meat supply is corrupted by all the hormones and antibiotics needed in large scale farming to get them to market. Chickens fare even worse than the others. From egg to the grocery store takes 9 weeks now, they are so genetically engineered and pumped up with growth hormones.
The seed companies have really broken one off in us by designing their seeds to "not sprout" the second year, though you can in some cases get one more years planting out of this years seeds. The seeds are so much alike in each product that some kind of blight or disease could literally wipe out most production for a year. If that is not bad enough, it is a crime to replant this years seeds which you purchase from these seed giants...like 5 years worth of crime. I guess you are charged with kidnapping seeds! I wonder which politicians the seed giants had in their pocket on that one?
It would pay you to purchse a tin of "old timey" seeds which you can find on the net or probably in a publication like "Mother Earth News". Many farmers still use the old non hybrid seeds around here and the crops taste much better and you can use the seeds to replant next year. Corn is different, you may have to really search to find any non hybrid corn seeds, but many of the older hybrid corn can be replanted...most tomatoes are the same way.
Speaking of taste, if you live in or near a farming area, you can buy locally quaters, halves, or even a whole critter, of beef, pork, lamb, or natural veggies. If you buy a beef and have it butchered, patty out what you will use for burgers, frozen ground beef just will not "patty" out very well like fresh ground beef does. The beef and pork I get locally which has not been fed all the hormones
and antibiotics taste so much better that the store bought stuff and home grown chickens, even more so. You can even raise your own chickens, they are very easy with little effort. Oh, your store bought eggs are cold storage eggs, meaning they have been around a while instead of being fresh. Urgggggggggg, taste nasty compared to fresh eggs.
Milk! After the heating process to pasterize milk, it is little more than water with an almost usless form of calcium left for color. Almost all the nutritional value is destroyed by the heating process. Fresh milk from a non hybrid, non hormone eating, non antibiotic flooded cow is yummy...that is if the cow is not running around with mad cow disease spouting cow profanities! Goat milk is better and I have never heard of mad goat disease, though I have seen a few mad billy goats.
One more rather disguisting item to bring to light. What happens to dead farm animals, no matter what they died of, your family pet if you leave it with the vet for disposal in some cases, and even sometimes road kill?
Welllllllllllll Glory!
It ends back up in the critter food supply via "rendering" plants which take dead critters plus old, expired, and spoiled stuff from the grocery store, road kill if they can get it, then, renders it into animal food. It may be processed into dog food, cat food, or something to feed a moo cow. They don't even bother to remove the meat from grocery stores from the styrofoam /shirnk wrap packaging, they just dump it all in and cook it down. As Paul Harvey would say, Thats the rest of the story.
