The statement about the NY Police Commissioner and the ADL jogged a brain cell.
I have in my "hate literature" somewhere a statistic from the NY Police Department of the 1890s.
I don't recall the exact quote from the police official but,
it was stated that although Jews were a relativly small percentage of the population they accounted for fifty percent of crimes in the city from pickpockets and pimps to political bribes and murder.
