Economics of Applied Ecology

"When I studied Social Sciences for four years, I loved Economics most of all. The other areas - Politics, Psychology, Sociology and History - were, for me, intellectual ideas.
Economics was the practical application of the other four subjects together. At Brockwood Park in South England I attended the Talks by Jiddu Krishnamurti, who was also interested in Economics as a young man. It was there that the Guidance gave me lessons in observing nature as a teacher of true economics.
There was a giant Cedar tree outside the house at Brockwood, and I was told to study and understand Earth Economics observing the whole life of the tree. Which I did.
In the future, the communities who are connected to who we are now, are applying the study of nature and universal order as economics. In a way, all human interactions are a form of economics. It is how the Guidance have always taught me - to structure my life in such a way that I use the least energy to gain the largest effect. The smaller and tighter the use of energy, the more intense the contact will be. It is pure Zen, and is the art of living.
In my early discussions with my spirit guides, I learned to use the minimum resource to understand how nature communicates. Once I was able to learn this deeper form of communicating, nature began to show me the unreal ways in which society is out of balance. Let me share just a small part of it with you: The part that is about to cause the biggest mess in human history.
I never stop studying Economics. If I go into town I watch every small event to understand why we have the problems we have in our society today. Basically it all stems from this:
Let's say you have a small island. On that island, 55% of the population are 65 to 85 years old. 30% are between 20 and 55 - producing the food and the wealth for the whole community. 15% are children or young people.
Of the 55% there are no wise people. The 55% are living as though they are brain dead. Most of them are ill, mentally incapable or are interested only in taking care of their own wants, and care about nothing else. The 30 % have to carry the 55% and the 15%.
It does not work! That is basic economics.
Okay, there is a massive change in the climate of the earth that causes severe disruptions to the food supply. These disruptions may last the next seven years. The 30% have to be fed properly, or they are not going to be healthy and physically fit enough to find a sustainable food source. Society is depending on them for the future survival of human kind. As supplies dwindle who do you feed? Do you feed the 55% or do you feed the young mothers and the children?
Multiply this by millions all over the world and you have a picture of real economics today. You also have a picture as to how unrealistic we are as a race. The politicians know all this, but they are afraid to say anything. Who is going to invite a truth sayer into office?
No animal, sea creature or plant system lives the way we do. The whole eco system of the earth is geared towards survival and the dynamic use of intelligence to realise the continuation of each species. Except the human species. There is no natural predator for us humans, and so in a very short time the earth herself is going to start playing predator in order to bring us back into the natural flow of the eco system. She is going to give us all a big and never to be forgotten lesson in applied economics."
