I've been following this thread for a while now and I have to say that so much of it has been clouded and made to be so complicated when it doesn't have to be. Mankind has a basic drive to do as he desires, and simply doesn't wish to take responsibility for those actions. We all do it, we want what we want, when we want it, and all without paying what hangs from the price tag. That is why we have the subject of Abortion to debate today. We want sex without the strings, but the truth is sex, and the consequences of it carry a heavy toll.
We are dealing with plots, plans and schemes long in action before our oldest anchestor's first drew breath. It is foolish to think we could ever de-bunk, deal with, or even understand any of it without faith.
Religion, Abortion, and Self Medicating have all been discussed in this thread, but what has not been brought up until Rayelan's post is the stripping off of the blinders, and considering the idea's of self restraint and self possession.
I find it amazing that in this day and age of A.I.D.S. and every other STD under the sun that people haven't become responsible with their bodies. We persist in the pursuit of physical pleasure to the point of our own deaths. This could only happen by the masses being properly mind-controlled and triggered at the correct times via a host of different means.
I beleive that the most effective weapon against these things could only be a faith in something far greater than ourselves and the willingness to discover it personally. No one can argue with the fact that whatever man has taken sole control of is most often corrupted by creed, jealousy, ego, pride, rebellion and the need to control others, but to claim that because of this that ALL religion is a farce is just ridiculous.
All of this began with a question, "What is Satanism", and like the Supreme Court I have to say this, I may not be able to give you a good enough definition of what it is, but I sure can recognize it when I see it!! To call what is good, evil, is indeed one of the highest forms of evil itself, and visa-versa.
Whomever said that true goodness can be found in the deeds that go unnoticed, because they are done on a smaller scale was so right. Why is this so? I believe this is so because when we do something truly righteous it isn't meant to be applauded by the rest of the world just so someone can have the approval of others lavished upon them. Otherwise, we would always end up with just another fan club or bogus religion.
No, true faith, true "religion" is this, to feed those you find hungry, clothe those you find naked, take in those you see homeless and truly not seek the glory for doing so because you are not doing it for yourself but for the love of the faith you claim to have in that Greater Power, God.
I don't believe that God ever desired any of us to become "Holy Superstars", just willing to be active in each of our own lives. None of us will ever change the world in a massive way alone, but in doing what we can for others unselfishly one on one, we can really rock the world of the people we each reach out to. That is where real differences are made, and true miracles take place.
Greed, pride, ego, jealousy, anger, lust, and war are the distractions of evil because they pollarize all of us, and cause us to become self-centered, self-contained, and self- promoting, these are the very tools of evil.
I do not, and will not ever claim to "know it all", but I do know this much, there is indeed evil, but more importantly there is love and it will always in the end be victorious. Many will point and say, what about this or what about that? All I have to say to them is this, wait it isn't over yet. The saga is still being lived out, just determine to make YOUR very first thought be to do good whenever it is in your power to do it and trust God to multiply it and make of it something amazing for all of us.
