The law of stealing copyrighted work is not clear. As you know most laws are made by "precedent" these days, not by legislatures! Because of this, web law is still unclear!! Which means that anytime the government wants me shut down all they have to do is have one of their "media mouthpieces" go after me for what some of YOU agents are doing, posting COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL!!
If the LA Times comes after me like they did Free Republic, do you really think I can raise the $90,000+ to defend myself in court? I have a hard time raising the money to pay the bills each month, and that is only $2,000!
From now on, if you do NOT have the permission of the writer and/or the OWNER of the material, these are the rules of engagement!
ALL complete and copyrighted articles that are posted sans comment and url will be deleted in their entirety! Including all threads!
ALL articles that are posted sans comment will be examined for their "contribution" to what we are doing on RMN! If they are found to be lacking, they will be deleted!
Suggestions: If you are quoting material from printed editions newspapers and magazines, please give the name, date and edition of the source. In my area, the SF Chronicle has about 10 editions, the Peninsula edition, which is what I receive, has different articles than the East Bay edition which is different from the City edition! Many people are checking the accuracy of the information agents post!! Please give them the resources to do so!
The purpose of the RMNews forum is to give our readers a more in depth analysis of the current situation than the controlled media is able to do. Merely reposting what the controlled media spins in NOT giving our readers anything they can't get anywhere else. Yes, you might be pulling it all together and posting it in ONE place... but there are MANY places that do this... DRUDGE for example!!
What makes RMNews different than the rest is the ability of our agents to look at information and analyze what it is really saying! Many times a financial article will have an upbeat headline, such as: "GE workers receive bonus" you have to read deeply into the the article to find out that 30,000 have just been fired!
Remember, much of the media is owned by the huge corporations that are experiencing difficult economic times. They certainly don't want the people to know this, so they use clever ways of hiding the truth while still printing it! One of the many reasons for RMNews is to analyze the media and interpret it! Just reposting as article does NOT fulfill one of the reasons that RMN exists to do!
For centuries, quoting published work in other articles has been an accepted part of literature. However, in our litiginous society, those people who are at the forefront of "politically incorrect" information, have to "watch their backs" because there is probably some government or nwo watchdog out there just waiting for us to make a mistep that will allow them to shut down RUMOR MILL NEWS!
Somewhere on this forum, we have posted the guidelines for posting articles. I can't remember what we called them. If anyone can find them, can you please repost them under this, or if you don't have posting priviliges, please send them to: rayelan@rumormillnews.com
A final comment: RMNews has some of the best analysts on the web. We have a few people who have not yet acheived this status yet, and I am going to send them back to the OUTPOST for mote training.
These people have NOT yet "grocked" the purpose of RMNews. When I do this, it will NOT be announced on the Forum, because these people are serious researchers and one day I hope they will understand the difference between the RMN Forum and other "chat room" style forums!
