Mr. Farah should try to explain that "Israel is no threat.." to the family of this innocent vegetable-man murdered by Israeli forces on Thursday. Israel is certainly a threat to THEM.
It says it "occurred when Israeli troops began firing randomly on the town’s residents." Firing RANDOMLY? So Israel is a threat even to randomly chosen Palestinians!
Man selling vegetables in Jenin market shot dead by Israeli soldiers
October 3, 2002
In an attempt to frighten local residents into obeying an imposed curfew on their town, Israeli troops in APCs and tanks today fired on unarmed civilians in the town’s central market, shooting 44-year-old father of two, Ahmed Hassan Khalil Istaiteh in the head while he was working at his vegetable stall. One other was injured in the same attack, suffering shrapnel wounds to his leg.
Istaiteh was rushed to Al-Razi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. He is survived by his wife Sereen, 35, and sons Hassan, 10, and Tamer, aged 18 months.
The attack occurred when Israeli troops began firing randomly on the town’s residents as they tried to go about their daily business.
“The Israelis don’t want us to live – they are always attacking us, trying to destroy our livelihoods, our chances of education, our daily life – my cousin is yet one more victim of this,” said Omar Istaiteh, 45, cousin of Istaiteh. “We will never accept this unfair curfew.”
To date, 1,919 Palestinians have been killed and more than 41,000 injured since the start of the current Intifada in September 2000.
“This cold-blooded killing of an unarmed man simply trying to make a living so that he can support his family is yet another example of the lengths that this occupying force is willing to go to impose their brutal regime on the Palestinian people,” said Judeh Abdullah Jamal, Deputy General Director of the Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committees (PARC)
