Today the Moon passes the South Lunar Node (where the Moon's orbit transitions South of Earth's path of orbit around the Sun), offering -- according to traditional astrology -- a poignant glimpse to some 'earlier' locale in time, conveying information of practical relevance for 'now'. Currently the South Node is in 1 Leo (Tropical): BLOOD RUSHES TO A MAN'S HEAD AS HIS VITAL ENERGIES ARE MOBILIZED UNDER THE SPUR OF AMBITION. Primordially, the ambition of every 'life form' is 'survival'.
Moon passes the South Node today during the last Phase before Lunation ('New Moon' in the everyday parlance), an apt moment for pondering somewheres earlier in time than the present 'dog-day' reckoning. Wiki maps the prospects: Dog Days were popularly believed to be an evil time "when the seas boiled, wine turned sour, dogs grew mad, and all creatures became languid, causing to man burning fevers, hysterics, and phrensies".
It occurred in 30 Gemini: A DAUGHTER OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION. Rudhyar: "Glorification of the Past". As all 'eclipses' occur near one of the Lunar Nodes, the Solstice Eclipse happened close to the South Node... burning a bridge to the past? Ready to fly into an unknown future?
Four yods opening the 2009 northern hemisphere harvest season are depicted in two posts that appear above this one in the index for this thread (below). These yods stream energy from late Cancer and Virgo to late Aquarius. You can see in the four charts that the 22nd degrees of Virgo and Aquarius are 'populated' in all four yod configurations.
Considering that a late-afternoon signing would give the Declaration of Independence a Sagittarius Ascendant, it is significant to note that Jupiter is in 22 Aquarius during both of the August '09 yods. That makes the degree-symbol all the more interesting (ital added):

KEYNOTE: The warmth of understanding which comes to those who, early in life, are open to new possibilities.
Man is never left without assistance when eagerly seeking to grow emotionally and spiritually. Even if he does not consciously realize the intent and value of what sustains his self-development and cushions the shocks which life provides his growth in understanding, still the assistance is there. He may think: No one understands me. But the understanding is there if he does not egotistically take for granted that life and society owe him everything.
This second stage symbol contrasts the kindness inherent in so many of life's situations with the tragic feeling of disillusionment represented by the first stage symbol [see Phase 321]. Through a warm APPRECIATION of basic opportunities and even small comforts, we can safely and happily grow into personal maturity.

PHASE 172 (VIRGO 22°): A ROYAL COAT OF ARMS ENRICHED WITH PRECIOUS STONES.
KEYNOTE: The certification of aristocratic status, at whatever level "nobility" expresses itself in cultural eminence.
Once more a reference to ancestral achievements occurs among these symbols for the sign Virgo. It is seen here in its most exalted character, for "royalty" is spoken of. Traditionally the king is the spiritual symbol of unity of an integrated nation; as a coat of arms is visualized, we are dealing with a status that is not merely personally acquired but has its roots in a notable past. Every great Adept has come out of a line of human beings who have made their marks upon human evolution. Spiritual attainment is the result of a series of long, repeated efforts; it is the end of a "royal road," (raja yoga) in the broadest sense of the term, raja, meaning king.
This second stage symbol contrasts with that of the first in that it refers to heredity rather than to the training of youthful raw material. Gautama the Buddha was known occultly as "He who comes after his predecessors." The coat of arms represents the collective status, the Spiritual Office. Whoever wears it assumes the responsibility of an Office. As the French say, "Noblesse oblige." NOBILITY confers upon a man exacting responsibility. The question implied in the symbol is, Are you willing, able and ready to assume a "royal" office, at whatever level it may be?
We can modify the language, "obligations of high office" -- by definition, accessible to only a few -- and instead, think of: "obligations of public trust".
Every group institution and individual entity bears "obligations of public trust".
Not only corporations, but each of us through experience assigns premium valuation to the cultural priority of cultivating optimal intelligent cooperation between individual and environment. We can refer to this idea with the handy term, "reciprocity".
