IT IS, YEP IT IS!!! This is exactly what was meant when I posted a while ago that some of the reporters/anchors will be breaking out of their mold (so to speak) and moving toward what is FREE SPEECH. THEY LOVE IT TOO, they have to to be working so hard at what they do. I think somebody of that ilk reads RMN in order to tap into WHAT INQUIRING MINDS want to know...and responds. RMN has opened more than one can of worms, it seems, even in my short tenure here, and often the "FLAVOR" of things cover the talking heads scoop of I scream. Hey, we do live in exciting times.
Wonder what Mr. Brokaw thinks of the 40 page "Model State Emergency Health Powers Act" which was linked, again some weeks ago, and poo-pooed by another agent as drafted by nongummental officials, and only a draft. Well, if it's a draft, ITS AWFULLY COLD sitting next to it.
Some lovely definitions from that DRAFT:
(h) "Isolation" and "quarantine" mean the compulsory physical separation (including the restriction of movement or confinement) of individuals and/or groups believed to have been exposed to or known to have been infected with a contagious disease from indivuduals who are believed not to have been exposed or infected, in order to prevent or limit the transmission of the disease to others.
(j) "Protected health information" means any information, whether oral, written, electronic, visual, pictorial, physical, or any other form, that relates to an individual's past, present, or future physical or mental health status, condition, treatment, service, products purcased, or provisionof care, and that reveals the identity of the individual whse health care is the subject of the information, or where there is reasonable basis to believe such information could be utilized (either alone or with other information that is, or should reasonably be known to be, available to predictable recipients of such information) to reveal the identity of that individual.
(l) A "public health emergency" is an occurrence or imminenet threat of an illness or health condition, caused by bioterrorism, epidemic or pandemic disease, or novel and highly fatal infectious agent or biological toxin, that poses a substantial risk of a significant number of human fatalities or incidents of permanent or long-term disability. Such illness or health condition includes, but is not limited to, an illness or health condition resulting from a natural disaster.
