I have to confess that last week I used the money for my mortgage to pay some of the bills that were almost past due. I did this KNOWING and Praying that you would come through, and Thankfully, you did.
Thank you so very much. I wasn't looking forward to having to move out of my home on someone else's schedule.
I KNOW that God always delivers to each of us exactly what we need at the exact time we need it. God delivered to me the money for the mortgage at the exact time. Evidently God believes that Rumor Mill News is still needed.
I thank everyone who also believes that Rumor Mill News is still needed.
I really hate having to put all of us through this drama every month.
Most of the emails that I have received tell me that I should turn Rumor Mill News into a subscription site. I know that other sites on the internet are subscription and they are doing very well. Even a small number of readers can support a subscription site.
Is that really what we want to do?
What would happen to the people who really can't pay because they have no money at all... those who live with their parents, or have their "allowance" so monitored that they would NOT be able to explain even $5.00 to their "handlers"... i.e. parents, wife, husband. Or in the case of the child of the new world order... to the "trustee" who manages her money.
How would the people who need the information that is on RMN get it if they are in the class of people I have named above. You can't imagine the letters I get from people who want to give money, but their lot in life puts them in a money prison.
What about the disabled young man who lives with his mother. He has no money of his own and his mother thinks Rumor Mill News is a waste of time. What would he do if we turned RMN into a subscription site?
What about the wife whose husband counts every penny and also thinks RMN is a waste of time? She sends money every now and then... do you want to know how? She wrote to tell me that the only receipt he doesn't go over is the grocery receipt. She pays by check, and then she returns something to the store and gets cash back for it. That's how she comes up with the money that she sends me.
I also have people on fixed incomes who send one or two dollars when they can. These people are taking that money from their food budget or their prescription budget. How can I tell these wonderful people that they can't access RMN without paying?
I know that at least 10,000 of our regular RMN readers would pay $5.00 a month to read RMN. But what would happen to the rest of our family?
If someone can come up with a way that people like the ones I have named above, can also access RMN, then I will turn it into a subscription site.
Last month we had 20 million hits.
Look for the APRIL row, then look on the far right under the green box named "hits". You will see 20,008,082. Then look at the monthly total for "visits". In the yellow box. You will see that we were just shy of 700,000 visitors. Look for April, not May. Only a few hours of May is on this chart. BTW... If you were an advertiser for one month, your banner ad would have been seen MORE than 3,362,324 times. These figures are ONLY for RMN. But we run your banners on RMN Radio and other sites.
April had MORE hits and more visitors THAN ever.
Almost 700,000 individual computers accessed RMN. Our daily average was a little over 23,000 individual computers. I know that I access RMN from two different computers each day, and I imagine that a large number of our readers do too. Let's take the 23,000 figure and halve it... 11,500.
If only 12,500 actual people (not computers) come to RMN everyday, and we charged $5.00 a month for a subscription, then we would make $62,000 each month.
Do you have any idea what we could do with that kind of money? I could actually pay Zapper and NeverSurrender and NaturalWisdom a salary for all the work they do.
AND... I would have enough left over to pay our agents. We have some crack investigators working for us, but we don't have the money to pay them to go on assignment. If we were making $57,500 a month, I could pay some of our agents to do special jobs.
There is no more investigative reporting done by the MSM... but if we had the money to pay for expenses, we have a number of real investigators who could do this.
We have dozens of books here on RMN that need to be made from our archives and sold on Amazon and as ebooks.
If we had the money, we could hire someone who knows how to comb through our archives and put hundreds of books together. We have enough information on various aspects of history to fill an encyclopedia.
If someone can show me a way to charge a monthly subscription, and yet leave the door open for all who cannot pay anything, we will consider turning RMN into a subscription site.
I have had people recommend everything from a dollar a month, to $15.00 a month. I think a dollar is too little and $15.00 is too much.
Thank you all for insuring that RMN is around for one more month, and at the end of one more month, maybe our RMN Family will have decided what to do so that all of us can miss the drama that we have to go through every month just to survive one more month.
$3,000 a month doesn't cover all the costs associated with RMN. And it certainly doesn't give me any extra for taxes, domain names, and all the other little incidentals like taking the doggies to the vet.
I could really use the $57,500 a month that 11,500 readers would bring in every month... and maybe more. I know of one other site like RMN that had 65,000 contributors all of whom paid $5.00 a month. Do the math on that one and see how much they were bringing in each month. It's no longer around, but not because it wasn't producing. There were other problems.
I don't like advertising that I'm a senior citizen who lives on social security, but one of our agents outed me. Yes, this is true. If it weren't for my social security, I wouldn't have the money to pay the mortgage. My adsense buys me food and pays some of my personal bills. But all the charges for the websites have to be paid by our readers, because there is no other money coming into me.
I really would like to have enough money to hire a professional webmaster so that NeverSurrender and I could focus our time on other things. NaturalWisdom needs money so he can cut back his hours at the job that pays his salary, thereby going back to living an ordinary life and getting enough sleep every night.
All of us here at RMN devote our lives to RMN. It would be so wonderful if there was enough money to pay everyone who works here... including Patriotlad and Susoni... a salary... to acknowledge all the work they do.
And what would really be wonderful, is to be able to pay our agents for the articles they write. Wouldn't that be wonderful?
One person wrote me and asked why the MSM doesn't have subscription sites. The tone of the email was saying... "If they can do it, why can't you."
The reason is because they are part of the beast. Meaning other parts of the beast buy advertising from them and support them that way. But even that money is drying up right now, and the MSM is having a hard time surviving. If the BEAST-MEDIA, which is supported by other parts of the BEAST is having a hard time surviving in these difficult times, then is it any wonder that a site like RMN... that is constantly slinging arrows at the BEAST, is having problems staying afloat?
I am open to turning RMN into a subscription only site. But before we do that, we have to have a plan in place to take care of all of the people who may be left behind.
If we can come up with everything we need to do this, and not leave anyone behind, then we can do it.
And yes, we will create a way to accommodate those who want to pay by check or money order... and those who want to pay a year in advance.
We will need new software for logins and passwords. And I will finally have to sign up for taking credit cards. I've been putting this off for years, but if we go subscription, I will need to take credit cards because Paypal doesn't do everything I need our software to do.
If anyone has more ideas, especially how NOT to leave any behind, please let me know.
