Posted By: hobie Date: Wednesday, 29-Jun-2005 00:08:00 In Response To: FRANCE TO BUILD FIRST FUSION FROM SEA WATER REACTOR (IZAKOVIC) : FRANCE WINS THE BID TO HOST NUCLEAR FUSION PROJECT Not sure how this ties in, but, last I'd heard, Pons and Fleishman, the two who announced their discovery of "cold fusion" to the world and then got laughed at a lot, were still working away in a laboratory somewhere in France, funded at least in part by Toyota. Several other research teams had been able to replicate Pons and Fleishman's experiments, with the same result - so even if news headlines didn't say so, P and F were not being laughed at, any more. :) The terminology had changed a bit - instead of "cold fusion" it began being referred to as "new hydrogen technology". The Japanese project with that name was disbanded by 2000, as I understand - but it appears the naysayers on "cold fusion" are the ones who are in the wrong: there's something there.
