Yes, and think of what "chanting" brings to mind. This is a psychiatric problem but not in the conventional sense of singling out a sick individual. It's what Wilhelm Reich called MASS PSYCHOSIS.
The masses (who he called "homo normalis") have been dumbed down so that their conscious minds are less active and they are more susceptible to this kind of hypnotic suggestion.
This type of chanting REDUCES consciousness. They activate an older, primitive consciousness that is grounded in collectivism, not individuality. In that older consciousness, as in ancient times, there was no need for people to think for themselves individually. Emphasis was on the group, the tribe.
But the hallmark of modern consciousness is freedom, personal sovereignty. Freedom is only possible when we can think for ourselves and take personal responsibility for our lives.
But for those who aren't ready to step up to that plate, there is the "Default" system, and that is what we have in the political world. Most people are reacting subconsciously to emotional triggers rather than applying critical thinking to actual issues. (And the PDF file of Obama's hypnotic patterns points out very well that there is very little actual content being presented).
Those of us whose conscious minds are alert and awake will say, "Huh? Did he actually say anything?" and our conscious minds will be bored listening to the vacuous rhetoric. Those who are comfortably entranced (homo normalis) will be swept up in it.
