I have produced a little overview so you can visualize the events even better.
Haider was driving by himself coming from Klagenfurt (1) (he don't drinks, usually!) when he had successfully managed to pass another vehicle without any complications and had returned to the right lane again (2) at the entrance to the little village of Lambichl (You can find it at googlemaps at appr. 46° 34' 0" North, 14° 16' 0" East). The passing of the other vehicle could have happened even earlier as shown in my map, although most media did put it much later to preserve the wrong image of an "accident" in connection to the manouvre of overtaking the other car.
All at sudden in a longstretched left bend his car veered off the road to the right (3), hit a concrete foundation of a fence (4), and flipped over several times until the car came to a rest after appr.150 meters (5).
The politician died on the way to a local hospital from serious injuries to the head, neck (broken!) and chest, according to the medical chief of the Klagenfurt hospital and his left arm was almost almost severed.
I don't have any information about the woman in the car behind Haider, who reportedly called 911. There was no other traffic reported at the time of the "accident"...
