You're correct, but our forum is a ripe target for disinformation agents. "Flame wars" actually restrict, halt, and disrupt useful forum conversation rather than adding to it -- everyone goes more quiet while the battle is raging at the center of forum attention. An atmosphere of "colleagues" and collegiality works best here -- and allows disruptors to stick out like a sore thumb, too. :-)

There's no interactive chat room at the present time, but there's 'The Coliseum', an 'ezboard' forum Rayelan set up specifically so that arguments between Agents could be "taken outside". That might serve the purpose you have in mind. Posts there will also persist over time, but its intended 'atmosphere' allows for more 'heat' in conversation.
