Gotta wonder - is there a growing amount of anthrax around, or have we just begun more carefully testing for it? That is, have people been getting _minor_ anthrax infections all along, usually handled by antibiotic treatment without fully diagnosing the condition?
The name "anthrax" is derived from a word that means "black"; the typical anthrax skin infection develops a black center, after awhile - but have there been cases in which antibiotics, administered earlier, never showed the telltale black center?
Dunno - just wondering out loud, here....

NBC Employee Tests Positive for Anthrax
NEW YORK (Reuters) - An employee of NBC news in New York City has tested positive for the anthrax virus, MSNBC television reported on Friday.
``Today we learned that one of our employees at 30 Rockefeller Center has tested positive for the skin anthrax infection,'' said a joint statement from GE vice chairman Bob Wright and NBC president Andrew Lack.
``It is important to note this is not the same respiratory anthrax that has been reported in the news.''
MSNBC said the employee, a woman, was not in danger. She was diagnosed with a strain of the disease different from that which has afflicted three people in Florida, one of whom died.
