I posted *ALL* the information that I have received so far.
I for one STILL don't know WHICH if any is "correct".
Since there have been 3-5 so called "correct" answers so far...
let's see....
These dots are for:
1) The newspaper delivery person
AND
2) The EMS and FEMA
AND
3) To tell which utilities are hooked up to your house
(or maybe that was combined with the second one?)
AND
4) For the post office to know who to deliver to???
AND
5) For the fire department to know which houses have water???
Don't 99.999% of all houses have water?
Anyway.... I guess ALL of the above are correct.
In order to know how to do your job you need to see a pretty little sticker to tell you there is water in a house.
AND... I used to have a paper route....
YOU DELIVER TO THE PEOPLE ON YOUR LIST!
and the U.S. Mail is sorted at the facility.... they don't need stinking dots to tell them who to deliver to.
IF all of these "Professional" agencies need colorful lil dots to tell them how to do their jobs, then we are sunk as a nation and we are living in a glorified kindergarden.
Have we REALLY de-evolved THIS far that grown human beings cannot figure out if a house has water or not without a pretty lil dot?
This whole thing is laughable if ANY of the above are true!!
AND... I would just like to make one final point....
WHY are these put onto mailboxes?
Someone will write in and tell me now that they are put onto mailboxes because they are at the street... well... a large percentage of mailboxes are attached to the house that might be on FIRE or dangerous in some other way if the EMS has been called.
SO "OH MY GOD"..... in those situations when the house is up in flames....and the dots on the mailbox are melted and gone.... how will these grown adults know how to do their jobs if the pretty little shiny stickers are missing?????
We are all gonna die!
Sorry but come on..... I will stand by my RIGHT to report ALL of the possible reasons for these damn lil stickers until someone can provide me with proof of what they are really for.
Of course "proof" is REAL easy to fabricate these days and virtually impossible to find.
