Excellent points. And I heartily agree. My main concern was that we are so scaring ourselves that we will jump at letting the real villains protect us. The fox has been in the 'henhouse' a long time...playing with us, fattening us up. Now he wants to 'eat' us.
The problem is we have enjoyed the 'play' and the 'fattening'. It is easy for mainstream to presume that the fox will just take care of them like he always has. The fact that he is sharpening his knives and slurping his lips seems lost on much of middle America. They just want to re-act to fear. And fear just gives the fox more power.
And by the way, it seems to give all of us split personalities...
