Here are some clues to
Scottish / Irish
and I do not know exactly why
it would be that way
Scottish is not Irish
although a bit of similarity
is present
I'm not sure what to think
something will come along
The cultural dances of the Scottish
are totally different than the Irish
Arm position, legs feet - actually
almost the opposite of one another
Irish dancing is done with the arms
by the sides
Highland is done like ballet - I believe
one hand position is different, which is
first position. The feet are the same
position.
In highland you are to be light on your
feet and not make a sound. In Irish
they tap and clog.
In Irish the legs are together, moving in
an up and down movement. In Scottish there
are points, leaps, and position of the feet
and legs in various formations. Basic first
step of the fling is: point behind in front
behind, using your foot to come up and point
and hide the foot behind the knee, come around
to the front and back behind. The leg forms a
triangle. This cultural dance would have been
passed down. Most of the kilt dances were done
by men. The sword dance is a victory dance.
The placed their sword over their opponents and
danced. In the sword dance you are disqualified
if you touch the sword.

Some kind of celebration was going on with
the British royalty (I think)?
Anyway Sean Connery (007) came out and made the
oddest remark. He said, "There has never been a

independence." Something very close to along those
lines.
The costumes are completely different as well
There is over 3 and 1/2 meters of material in
a kilt. The weigh a ton and they are itchy.
The Irish is cut circular and is decorated in
colored embroidery and beads.
The music is where you find the most similarity.
Somewhat different in the fact that the Irish
sing a lot more ballad, longing, mournful, missing
type songs. Highland is more into formation(?)
band type music. The art of piping with a band
is: all the pipers are to sound like it is one piper
piping. That is how a band is judged
if competing in competition.
I love both Scottish and Irish.

My Mom is Scottish/Irish
They are from Eastern Canada - PEI
My Mom tap dances and clogs, one of
her brothers can play the spoons.
She has a lovely voice. I've been
told not to quit my daytime job and
take up singing as a career. I take
after my Dad, we can sing off key
perfectly every time we sing.
There is a woman's Scottish dance
called the 'egg dance'. Done with
the same steps as a man's sword dance.
the eggs are placed on the floor in a
square and the woman has to be light
on her feet, so she does not bounce the
eggs up and down.

I'm not sure what is going on with this
Scottish/Irish Kingship thing.
Irish remind me of being more gypsy like.
Scottish appear to be more reserved.
My Dad and Grandfather's would listen
before making comments, and often would
not bother. I often noticed that when
they were thinking about something, they
would walk around while thinking. My
Mother was of a more excitable nature.
Both appeared to be resourceful, they
were overly wasteful.
I do not understand why there is this need to
link the two cultures together as being the
same, when they are not.
There is this passage in Revelations

Here is an odd thing in the now
Although I am not American
The head anchor for CBC national evening
news (Peter Mansbridge) will be telecasting
from (I think California) for Super Tuesday
and the results and what affect this will
have on Canadians. Live coverage. This
has been going on for weeks up here in
Canada. Headline news of the American
primaries. By the way, not one mention
of Ron Paul, which I find odd. And now
we get two days of live coverage? Amazing.
