READER: HARD TO RELAX TO "CRASHING SURF SOUNDS" WHILE YOU'RE HEARING VOICES
Yes, I have experienced the same thing with my "white noise" machine I use to
try to help me sleep better. Starting one night a little over a year ago, I
had the machine on the crashing surf setting. I was just starting to relax a
bit, when I heard what sounded like several voices saying the same thing over
and over again. I couldn't make it out, but my body became very fearful and
tense. I just turned the machine off. The next night, I was paranoid about
the crashing surf, so I tried the mountain stream setting. Just as I started
to relax, the exact same thing happened again. I was afraid that in a relaxed
state, I would be able to be influenced more easily and effectively. I just
got rid of the machine after that. It is strange that I had used it without
incident for about 2 years
