:) HOW TO MAKE A "POSITIVE CHANGE IN YOUR LIFE"! A NOT SO SERIOUS 'ANALYZZIS'...
If Tony Blair, the fading PM, waded in to 'insist that the logo would inspire people "to make a positive change in their life"' - that really means something.
Being an expert for all kinds of logos - I have created an 100-so-what during my "former life" as an Art Director - I am quite aware that logotypes mirror the intention of the event. From the artistic point I regard it as - funny - although I find it even more funnier if you go more into the details:
The graphic shows the year of the event - 2012 - a "crucical date" - if you believe in doomsday prophecies. But according to that logo and additionally bringing in the Mayan calendar that stops at 2012 - I see maximally an end for the British "Umpire".
Interesting, that besides the four numbers (2-0-1-2) there was need of a fifth element - according to the five rings of the Olympic Games symbol - that resembles the five continents. You can find it in the MIDDLE.
If we take a jump back - to what I wrote about the Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010 - we see even another intriguing similarity:
Again some blockheaded person or figurine. As this is the other input from the London 2012 logo: A little blockhead with the ZERO as the head - almost a bit too clumsy for a sportive person. More like a weightlifter, perhaps - or a fat athlete waiting for the start of the race...
When it was obviousely Australia that was pictured as the head of the "Inukshuk" (the Vancouver symbol) - now it seems to have turned to "zero". We could understand it both ways: Either it wants to portray the people as "zeroheads" - or something was "nullified" - that is connected with the head. Or, some circle comes to a "closing" - which is reflected in the word "ORANGE" as well (the O-range).
Didn't we hear much of "orange", lately? :)
The colors are interesting too: Lots of fire, added with some lightning bolts - which might enjoy the brave guys at "The Electric Universe".
The "shattering factor" of the braking-apart-part is worthwhile to consider as well! - "London" is situated in the right - the active - arm, while the left arm seems to be missing or is hidden. The "Z's" (the two "twos") are funny, too! As we have two countries in this world where "Zionism" is at home at its best: The "Zity" of London - and "Isreal". The left leg and the right hand, so to say.
And you know what? You might even see a Swastica in disguise, if you look very closely...
