Meeting a poor man who had been falsely accused, Jesus went with him before the magistrate and, having been granted special permission to appear in his behalf, made that superb address in the course of which he said:
"Justice makes a nation great, and the greater a nation the more solicitous will it be to see that injustice shall not befall even its most humble citizen. Woe upon any nation when only those who possess money and influence can secure ready justice before its courts! It is the sacred duty of a magistrate to acquit the innocent as well as to punish the guilty. Upon the impartiality, fairness, and integrity of its courts the endurance of a nation depends. Civil government is founded on justice, even as true religion is founded on mercy."
The judge reopened the case, and when the evidence had been sifted, he discharged the prisoner. Of all Jesus' activities during these days of personal ministry, this came the nearest to being a public appearance.

Dear Mr. Richard Devine,
Because of your esteemed position in the State's Attorney's Office of Cook County, you engender a high degree of public trust. The people of Cook County, especially Christopher Bollyn at this time, look to you to faithfully prosecute justice both inside and outside of the courts with fairness and wisdom.
I am a fellow American residing in Iowa, but I, like so many others in Illinois and around the country and the world, have become aware of Christopher Bollyn's criminal treatment and abuse by the police of Hoffman Estates in Schaumburg Township, District 15. You may learn more about Bollyn's work at www.bollyn.com.
The summary of facts as I have them follow:
Case No. 06MC3005170
The Hoffman Estates Police Department responded to a non-emergency 911 call by journalist Christopher Bollyn. He was concerned about three men driving around his neighborhood while wearing body armor.
To Bollyn's surprise, those three men responded to the 911 call, along with the police, who stood nearby at their cars.
The plain-clothed officers assaulted him without cause (used excessive force, broke his elbow and TASERed him in the process) and falsely arrested Bollyn on his property. These 'law enforcement officers' charged this innocent citizen who called for help, with two criminal charges.
After the arrest, plain-clothed officers visited the homes of Bollyn's neighbors, the only eye-witnesses, and the neighbors have since changed their accounts of their previously offered testimony.
Just as egregious, the video from the police car cameras has been destroyed, and the police audio recordings have been edited. The police video was evidence of Bollyn's innocence, so its disappearance is both suspect and highly disturbing.
Of course, without this evidence it is likely Bollyn will not be able to receive a fair trial, which is scheduled to begin on Thursday, May 31st at 9:00 A.M. in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Third Municipal District, at 2121 Euclid in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. The room number is 107 and it appears the presiding judge will be Hon. Hyman I. Riebman.
Myself, and other Bollyn supporters, protest the trumped-up charges against Bollyn based on a fabricated police report. We protest this destruction of evidence and malicious prosecution of an innocent journalist. We demand that the prosecution and the judge drop all charges against Bollyn and conduct a thorough investigation to ensure that justice prevails.
We demand this travesty of police conduct be investigated urgently. We are monitoring this situation and have been reporting its developments to the highest authorities at the State and National levels.
Citizens everywhere will no longer countenance unlawful police conduct that in any way abrogates or intimidates the lawful expression of the liberties and rights of Americans guaranteed by our national and state constitutions. We all must and we all will rise up vigorously to defend these precious endowments never to allow their usurpation in the name of supposed terrorist threats.
As an enlightened teacher once said, "Justice makes a nation great, and the greater a nation the more solicitous will it be to see that injustice shall not befall even its most humble citizen. Woe upon any nation when only those who possess money and influence can secure ready justice before its courts! It is the sacred duty of a magistrate to acquit the innocent as well as to punish the guilty. Upon the impartiality, fairness, and integrity of its courts the endurance of a nation depends."
Mr. Devine, as you well know adjudication is the highest function of any government. I appeal to your sense of justice and I hope the State's Attorney's Office takes the right and noble course of action in this case. I trust you will personally look into this matter, and help guide it to a just resolution.
Sincerely,
Bill Jenkins
