Another byte of symbolism: Emily Jane Hilscher was the first person killed on Monday: she was an avid horsewoman or equestrienne ... she had qualified for the B team of V.T. as a freshman ... she was selected to work with horses at V.T. although only a freshman. This morning, when a reporter asked the Colonel of the State Police of Virginia something about Emily, he said ... "Emily who ?" Goodness. Two full days into the mess and the top State cop doesn't recognize the first name of the first shooting victim. What's going on here ? So far as is known now, Cho had no personal knowledge of this young woman and therefore nobody knows why she was chosen as the first victim ( or what impelled him to go to Ambler Hall ). Her boyfriend/male friend Thornhill is a student at Radford which is nearby. The V.T. police were talking to him as "a person of interest" when Cho let loose in the Norris building. As mentioned elsewhere, two of the victims were girls from the same high school in Chantilly, Virginia, where Cho went to school before V.T. They were both 2006 graduates. What's going on here ?
